As part of the Personnel Management Office’s Vision and Mission to have a highly motivated, professional, dedicated, effective and efficient workforce that is responsive to national development goals and objectives, the Office organized a 5-day Induction training from 23rd – 27th August, 2021 for the newly appointed employees held at Management Development Institute (MDI).
The training was attended by 30 participants from Government Ministries and Departments constituting of Information Officers, Administrative Officers and other officers in the Civil Service.
Mr. Lamin Saidy, the Director of Human Resource Development at the PMO said the objective of the Induction course is to enable inductees familiarize themselves with the modus operandi of the administrative framework and service rules of the Civil Service in preparation for an effective and efficient performance of their duties.
At the end of the course, one of the participants, Mahzouba Maya Faal, the Information Officer at the Ministry of Higher Education Research Science and Technology said, the training was timely and highly needed as new employees in the Civil Service. She further said, she found the training to be quite informative and interactive. She commended the facilitators for the mastery of the subject matters as their deliberations exceeded their expectations.
Ms. Faal stated that, the knowledge gained from the training will enhance their understanding of the Civil Service and rule books governing its operations.
Another participant, Bintou Susso, a Cadet Administrative Officer at the PMO said, the Induction was very useful for them because it would help them to understand the functions and mandate of the different branches of the government - ranging from the roles of the National Assembly, Public Service Commission, PMO, and State-Owned Enterprises etc.
She added that, the Induction training would further enhance their knowledge and understanding of the General Orders, Public Service Act and other rule books in the Civil Service.
She concluded by thanking the PMO and MDI for organizing and coordinating this important training programme which she said, will go a long way in enhancing their performance, knowledge and understanding of the Civil Service.
